@Mountain Goat: Yep, the Windows + Virtual machine situation becomes increasingly offensive as time continues. We’ve just had a rather horrid battle against some algae in our laser cutter’s cooling tank… resulting in us having to buy a new laser, removing time to do more interesting things :/ The interface is actually quite straight-forward to reverse engineer, but I don’t have anything in a publishable form yet.

Yea, NewlyDraw won’t run in wine without some serious wine mods because of the dongle. Snooping the USB traffic to the dongle reveals that the same transaction happens every time — no crypto in sight!

@Mark: If you haven’t already, then you’ll need to edit the server, username, and password that are handed to gmyth_backend_info_new_full() in main.c. Yea… they’re compiled in ;) It’s a feature. Honest.

@Andy: Yea, Till Maas cleaned up the specfile a bit and it’s now on its way into the Fedora repos. It’ll be there reasonably soonish :)

Yes, would love to have this running in Ubuntu or Linux as well, as running in VirtualBox works well, but I cringe at the sight of MicroSoft Windows starring me in the face. I don’t think WINE (Windows Is Not an Emulator) will work as we need to use the USB dongle thingy and that means a device driver of sorts.

So, yes, it would be ablosutely wonderful to have a Linux port and encourage you to do so.

Mountaingoat ~ grazin’ on the green slopes down under but currently enjoying grass in the Netherlands.

This looks like a lean and handy program. Unfortunately, I’m not smart enough to get it to run. That is to say that it compiles and runs under Mandriva 2010.0, but it can’t access the mythbackend so it doesn’t populate the window. This also might have something to do with the fact that I have several partitions working under mythtv to hold my media and none of them are mounted as /mnt/video.

If you have any spare clues to toss my way, I’d appreciate it. I really miss having a useful pvr front end. At this point, it’s all Dolphin and VLC.

I installed this fix on Ubuntu Hardy, and it worked with my eZ430-F2013 rev 2.0. Once.

The next time I tried to use it, it wouldn’t get through device enumeration. Sometimes I get an address assignment, and sometimes I don’t. It’s also not recognized on a Windoze box.

There are log messages indicating that the driver “changed” the firmware. Unfortunately, it appears to have been “changed” into a brick.
